I recently got turned onto dropbox.

Its creates a desktop folder which you can sync with all your computers or your iphone. You can share folders with friends and open files on your phone.

Mapping my Mind, My Mind Mapping

Maybe it's the face that I am a double Capricorn... but I have to confess, I love mind-mapping software. I recently purchased the iThoughts application software on my iphone. And I have been happily creating complicated mindmaps on my iphone... maps of my dreams, my 92 item to do list, work lists, plans for career development, websites, plans of actions... you name it!

And I emailing them as outlines, pngs or transferring freemind files to my desktop!

Freemind is a free javabased mind-mapping software. Its not as sexy as iThoughts, but it does the job.

I am happy and more organized. I love good tools!

A couple of years ago I went to a design conference called Sahre Victore Wilker. Designers from all over the world came for the 5 day event. There everyone was asking and talking about blogs blogs blogs and it was all the trend.

Last year I went to a conference on entrepreneurs and people were talking tweet tweet tweet.

The Mythical Man Month

I recently picked up the Mythical Man Month by Fred Brooks. Its not only a great read, but its surprisingly insightful.

It is touted as THE book on software engineering and project management, and I am finding it to be a great read and very insightful in regards to the creative process.

Learning Papervision 3D

Lately I have been asked to develop a 3D Aquarium. I know, not anything revolutionary in the world of the internet, but it is an opportunity to explore and learn Papervision3D and a 3D program. Two things that have been on my ToDo list for about forever.

Inspiration - Klee

Everyone should go to the MOMA and check out the Klee exhibit. They have a nice presentation of his work on the 5th floor. I went over the Holidays with my family. It was great. We got there early and headed up to see it immediately. I had a good 20 minutes, before the crowds came, and got to really take in his work. In this one my nephew and I wondered about the arrow from the fish to the man's nose. There also seems to be a smile on the fish's face. Is there a story there?

Inspiration - Matisse

This week I have been working on layouts and designs for a new book. As I was trying to figure out some color schemes I realized what I needed was a painting on the wall of the room. The colors reminded me of Matisse. So, I googled Mr Matisse and fell in love with his work once again.

I always find it amazing that there are some artists that speak to me through the ages. And some at different times. I was really into the modern artists in College. I spent a semester in Europe and while most of the other students were learning about Renaissance Art... I went all over checking France, Germany and Austria searching out the Modern Artists. Of course, I was told that this was a "phase" and as I got older I would appreciate the classics more.

Well, I am older now, and like an old friend, the Moderns have come back to me and its as if a day hasn't passed.

Dhyana and I heard a couple of amazing songs last night at 10pm on WBAI (99.5 FM or Socialist Radio as I like to think of it!) in New York. I was able to track down the songs today and they are from this woman (band?) Skye. She used to be one of the singers for Morcheeba and its really great. It sounds like a combo of Portis head... but not as suicidal and I dunno something very cool.... Morecheeba? I am in the process of trying to hunt down a copy of it... shouldn't be too hard (ya'd hink)... my studio is 1 block from Saint Marks Place - where there are 8 dozen music stores... one guy had a promo copy at Joe's cd... he said he saw it on Saturday... and was going to try to find if for me... he was surrounded with stacks and stacks of cds... we'll see - they don't have it on itunes.

Frans Masereel, La Villa 1928

Frans is one of my favorite artists. He made all these glorious woodcuts in the early 20th century. I'll try to spend some time and find out if there is any more info on web about him. If there is I will share it with all of you.

I really like how he captures the feelings of being crowded in the city. The background is filled with buildings and everyone standing too close to one an other.

BUNNY YOGA SKETCH

People always ask me how I come up with my ideas... sometimes my ideas come from my dreams, sometimes from funny things that happen and sometimes I just start sketching and create something that has a life of its own. Bunny Yoga is one of those things. This is the original sketch for the Bunny Yoga.

Its also helped me get better at Yoga. Its fun to look at the sketches and see how some of them changed and some remain exactly the same. The potbellied bunny makes me laugh.
